Class Descriptions

Slow Flow Stretch- (1 hour)
If you are looking for a beginner class to experience stretch and components of yoga flow, this is a wonderful class.  It moves at a slower pace to allow students time to focus on position and breathing as they move into deeper stretches and asanas.  Care is taken to allow time to develop form and focus on the mechanics of simpler sequences.  Your instructor will guide you through each pose with an opportunity to challenge or try modifications to fit.  You'll finish with Savasana and meditation time for yourself.  Students may leave feeling focused, rejuvenated and extremely relaxed.

Yin- (1 hour)
This class is a very mindful style of yoga that will allow you to hold asanas for extended periods of time- minutes in most cases, with exception to some transitioning poses we do to prepare for the next Yin pose.  This class is excellent for those who want to focus on flexibility as opposed to cardio.  Athletes really enjoy Yin before or after workout, as it helps to restore muscles and connective tissues after vigorous workout and helps to increase their range of motion for sports. While holding the pose for this length of time, you will close your eyes and focus internally on the opening process.  Your attention will direct towards the physical and mental aspects as you go through three stages-

1.  Find your edge (deepest amount of opening you can comfortably find).
2.  Soften the muscles involved while remaining stable in the rest of your body.
3.  Allow gravity and your position to extend your body to greater lengths. We call this surrendering.

Most often, Yin is done on the floor or even against a wall and props are often used to create your perfect space to open up. We don't do as many poses in Yin and we don't flow through the sequences.  Instead, we focus on specific locations in the body, resting our minds in the process.  This is a class for all students and has 10 -minute mediation/relaxing time at the end of every class.

Vinyasa (1 hour)
Vinyasa will increase your cardiovascular activity to up your cardo game in Yoga.  You’ll experience dynamic yoga asanas that flow with each breath and increase heart rate and blood & lymphatic flow. Each class is sequenced in a way to help increase flexibility, strengthen and tone muscles, improve balance and allow you to tune in to your body’s own rhythm.  Vinyasa is a faster-paced yoga experience with flows that move from mat to floor and back up.  Sun Salutations are a very important part of Vinyasa class flow.  You'll get a solid workout and finish up in Savasana meditation/relax for 10 minutes. Vinyasa class is a unique experience that challenges all levels to breathe and work through the flows after setting your intention.  Rest is all part of the process. If you need to rest at any time, you simply come into a resting pose and join again when your body is ready.

Gentle Vinyasa- (1 hour)
This class is a step down from Vinyasa.  We'll flow in Vinyasa form but at a slower pace.  The body is warmed up and prepared for movement up and down on the mat.  We'll flow through Sun Salutations but with a gentler approach.  If you'd like to step up your yoga a bit and move a little more than your stretch class, this is an excellent class to attend.  You'll be challenged in a gentle way but find yourself flowing just like in Vinyasa class.

Flow Into Yin (1 hour 15 minutes)
If you enjoy flow and you enjoy Yin, you have the best of both worlds.  This class is a 75 minute class that incorporates Flow, Stretch and Yin in one class session.  We'll warm up with breathwork, flow gently to generate heat in the muscles and finish with deep long held stretches in a meditative style.  You'll have the opportunity to explore all aspects of flow and yin practice in one single class.  This is a class favorite with our students.

Yoga for Kids & Little Yogis After School (Ages 7-11) 1 hour
This 1-hour class is designed to introduce children to the yoga practice in a fun and engaging way.  Classes are structured so that students have an opportunity to learn meditation, poses and breathing techniques to help them manage stress and gain body awareness and mental focus.  They'll also get a chance to interact with other students while learning and practicing through games, activities and also through self reflection.  We incorporate music and sounds with sound bowls and other small instruments in some of our classes. Gratitude, self-love, and mindfulness is a common denominator in all classes and students will be encouraged to remember this through their experience.
